Magnetic Island is still an affordable place for a getaway.
Magnetic Island is still an affordable place for a getaway. Just need to be mindful of the stinger season and where you choose to swim. Horseshoe Bay and Picnic bay offer stinger nets. Alma Bay has great facilities and close to Arcadia pub.

Arcadia is a little quieter and less touristy than the popular Horseshoe Bay. Alma Bay is a beautiful place to swim, with natural protection from stingers. Alma Bay is easily within walking distance from Arcadia. There are a couple of great convenience stores. The ferry terminal is minutes away.

The folks running the motel were super friendly and helpful and tried to accommodate us as best as they could - letting us check in slightly early and check out slightly late, which was very much appreciated.
The aircon could've been a bit better, but was fine in the end.
All in all a very enjoyable stay, and a perfect location to explore from, would definitely stay there again.

All beaches are beautiful, Alma, Horseshoe Bay, Balding, Picnic Bay, etc, you can't go wrong. Water is perfect temperature allowing swimming throughout the entire day with a morning dip highly recommended.

Arcadia is the best bay on Magnetic island.
Arcadia is the best bay on Magnetic island. Walk along Geoffrey Bay, head out to the old jetty and feed the rock wallabies. Swim in Alma Bay, snorkle around the rocks or jump off Bums rock at high tide. Lounge on the terraced lawn sweeping down to the beach in the shade ( if swimming is not your thing), cook your own BBQ or head over to the Pub for lunch and a swim in their pool. head up to the Waterfall pools, or hike to Nelly. Walk or bus tothe other Bays. Look out for the Koalas and wandering Curlews and Echidnas that call Arcadia home.
Magnautical Cottage is comfy, cosy, quaint and close to Alma Bay beach - which is great. We loved the house as we don't like staying those modern concrete shoeboxes that seem to dominate the rental market these days. Nice gardens and sitting on the front porch in the wooden rocking chairs for Fives is a treat. Just across the road is the Arcadia corner store which has an amazing selection of high quality food stuffs and even pre-cooked meals for sale. Nice walking in the area. Bus stops right outside too.
The location was fabulous, very easy walking distance to Nelly Bay, Arcadia, Geoffrey Bay, Alma Bay and a convenience store and café right across the road. House was very comfortable and heaps of room for the dog in the fully enclosed yard. You even get a small glimpse of the water from the front deck. The spotlights on the national park hill at the back were beautiful. Wonderful array of books to read, movies to watch and games to play.
The accommodation was fabulous. Very clean, fresh and tidy with plenty of room. Garden, pool and BBQ areas were very well kept and clean.
I would highly recommend this place and will be returning myself again.
At first glance when arriving, I was thinking it wasn't what I was expecting but I was very happy once inside.
Very close to the beach, Arcadia pub, Stagedoor restaurant (also highly recommended), news agency and bus services.
The units have everything that you need. The location is perfect with the best beach a short walk away and the bus at your doorstep. They run regularley which is all you need to get around the island. They run from Picnic Bay to Horseshore Bay and its cheap. You really don't need a car. We spoke with Roxanne about some of the improvements that they are making to the property and these will make it even better.
Great space, decor, amenities and location, close to Arcadia pub and Geoffrey Bay. Very handy 3 min bus ride from Nelly Bay ferry terminal and so convenient to have a bus stop directly out the front of the house. Loved our friendly visiting kookaburra - a real treat for the kids! BBQ on the verandah also a bonus.
The location is perfect! Alma Bay swimming beach, the hotel and bus stop were all very close by. The room had everything we needed - comfy beds, shower and toilet, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and airconditioning for a peaceful night's sleep.
Very well equipped house with all mod cons. Nicely decorated, also had Netflix. Being opposite Geoffreys Beach, although couldn’t really swim there. Close to restaurants and small shop and walking distance to the rock wallabies which are cute.
Water pressure from the shower was fantastic after a day in the island sun and ocean was like a massage. The darkness at night was like being in a cave. Close to Alma bay and Arcadia village for all our leisure and dining requirements
We stayed in Room 19. This was our 4th stay at Arcadia and we noticed the little improvements since the new owners took over like bed side tables, microwave and toaster. We love staying here as it is central.
Price. Comfortable. Large area for 2 people. All possible cooking utensils provided. Very comfortable bed. Easy to keep clean during stay. Walking distance to Stagedoor Theatre, beach and Arcadia Hotel.
Best Magnetic really were helpful and friendly (gave us two sets of keys which lots of hotels won’t do) prompt service
Very clean
Convenient & practical - complete kitchen & hot shower
