Le Meridien Cairo Airport, hotel in Cairo

Linked to Cairo Airport Terminal 3 by a pedestrian bridge, Le Meridien Cairo Airport offers a heated outdoor pool and a fitness centre. Free Wi-Fi access is available.

I landed at an ungodly hour so it was very convenient to have the hotel right there rather than have to figure out taxi and whatnot. One very important point for fellow travelers, especially solo female travelers, is that there's a specific passage way inside the airport that takes you to the hotel. This is so helpful and I'm thankful someone directed me to this as going outside is not recommended at that hour.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo is an amazing city of activity, culture and nightlife.

Cairo is an amazing city of activity, culture and nightlife. The people are warm, welcoming and always ready to help. People say hi just to say hi, and they help without a secondary agenda. (sometimes they expect payment but not obliged to unless specified by your guide/hotels) The city is bustling with activity and you always feel safe. I think what travellers need to remember is that it is still a 3rd world country and many things are not like what you might be used to. Eg, cleanliness of bathrooms/places in general, everyone speaking good English (though it was pretty impressive), public transport availability and accessibility. Things to take note: 1. Use UBER, even at the airport. The pick up station is at the carpark and you will see this instruction when you log onto the app and request for a pickup. 2. Carry some amount of cash > as I said this city is still developing so some places don't take cards and the machines might not always work (We were at the Marriott Garden and it didn't work) 3. It's very dusty (you're in a desert!) so wise to take wet wipes to help clean places and also yourself. 4. Bring a bottle of water > it is the desert as i said and also you might need it to clean your hands/face. 5. Whilst it is still a tourist place, for women i would suggest to dress not too provocatively. Respect the area you're in.

The cultural sites are fantastic and will wow you at every turn. Definitely visit the museums and points of interest - there is a lot more beyond the pyramids. The food is great and extremely affordable, however if eating at smaller and less fancy places, watch out for cleanliness/hygiene as that may be questionable at times. Be prepared to be harassed and haggled (no physical interference though). Tourists are frequently and incessantly haggled for 'tips' (even for asking for directions, or using a public bathroom etc) and do not let anyone take a photo of you as a gesture unless you are prepared to tip them, especially at the 'major attractions!'. Cabs are incredibly cheap and ubers are plentiful. When visiting the far out sites it is adviseable to pay a driver for the day to ensure you are fetched timeously etc - drivers are very cheap in any event. When paying for anything (outside of malls), the price will always be negotiable and it is almost expected that you will ask for a discount, go very low and work your way up. Crime is almost non-existent, in almost every area so don;'t be afraid the wander the streets and go with the flow. Just make sure you have phone battery to use maps to navigate back to where an uber can find you. Do your research and plan the trip as Cairo is enormous and some sites are very spread out so try plan days accordingly. Wear tons of sunblock. English is relatively well spoken however in some instances it is almost non-existent, so factor that in when trying to interact with people. I would recommend wandering the streets of Old Cairo, visiting Khan el Khalili market (caution, you WILL be harassed incessangtly), Giza, all of the museums, wander the streets of Zamalek at night near Tahrir Square, take a cruise down the nile and sip a cocktail at any hotel bar on the river side. Keep sanitizer as sometimes hygiene is questionable at a lot of the sites.

I really enjoyed my time in Cairo & made the most of my 5-days there, visiting places like Old Cairo, Islamic Cairo, Giza, & even a day in Alexandria. The people were friendly, and my tour guide was very knowledgeable, which made exploring the ancient cultures even more interesting. I'm looking forward to my next trip to see Aswan, Abu Simbel, and Luxor.

It's very dirty. Mostly recycling is unknown. There's heaps of building work going on in Giza. Heaps of rubbish in piles. Roaming dogs. But you go there for the history and they have it in droves. We got sick of the tipping. And the asking for more.

Cairo is one of the best cities I have ever seen.

Cairo is one of the best cities I have ever seen. It is characterized by the historical attractions that takes you back in time and keeps you wondering. I was surprised by the fast progression that the country has reached . Its is easy to get around by public transport especially by metro . I recommend Sobhi kaber restaurant in Shubra if you want to try Egyptian traditional cooking as well as Villa Caracas, Maadi for middle eastern food . I stayed at 3 hotels , Triumph Eileen and Cleopatra Tahrir they were all great. Visiting The Pyramids, musiums , walking around down town cairo and trying Nile short cruise can be the for solo traveller .

The staff was so wonderful. Some of the most friendly people I’ve ever met. They were really helpful with scheduling things to do and making sure all the guests were taken care of. You really cannot beat this location. Walking distance to many restaurants and the pyramids. You can see the pyramids from the roof. Some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. Also the driver the hotel set me up with was the best. He was so sweet and funny. Customs at the airport took forever and he waited for me for an hour with no complaints.

I chose KMT Hostel since I needed a cheap place to sleep for one night in Cairo. It's well located - I walked there from the bus station. There are restaurants nearby and the metro is close. My bunk bed was comfortable and roomy, though I suspect the room gets crowded when all the beds are taken. The bunk has a personal plug, light and a shelf. Bathroom was clean with good showers. I left early, so didn't try the breakfast. The hotel owner was my taxi driver to the airport, very easy.

This is a good value, centrally located hotel in Cairo. It's old and some parts are undergoing renovation, but the rooms and breakfast area are in great shape and everything works. It's quiet at night and the wifi was fine. The staff are helpful and friendly, and arranged an airport transfer for us. Breakfast was good and alternated between European style and Egyptian style. It's about 10 minutes walk to several different Metro stations. Lots of restaurants and several ATMs nearby.

We loved our stay at the Gardenia Inn, the staff was so friendly and the view from the restaurant to the pyramids is amazing!! Breakfast was great, and the hotel staff could book us a great tour of Cairo with the Egyptian museum and market, and the airport pick ups worked perfectly too. We would love to come again soon! If you search for a cheap AND great accomodation with the best view over the pyramids and a place where they offer transfers, tours ect for you, this is the place :)

Location is a little weird and from our balcony I could jump to a another house that looked like a slum building Breakfast was large buffet of mediocre quality. Staff was good. Overall not a 5 Star experience mainly because of the room which needs some updating as it was old and musty and the wifi of course was substandard which I found in all hotels in Egypt. However it was the chaepest of the 5 Star hotels and was good value. Overall not bad but not fancy or 5 Star.

The hotel rooftop with the incredible view to the pyramids. The room bathroom is also great, specially considering the standards in Egypt and the price of this hotel. This hotel is the very best you will receive for little few money. I had an issue with the shower just arriving and they fixed immediately. The room and the bathroom were clean which is really important in Egypt. I dont think you can get anything better for this hotel price (and even for more).

It is the best hotel I have ever visited in terms of the cleanliness and arrangement of the rooms, the speed of response, the cooperation of the staff, and the breakfast is excellent. There are many restaurants and services around it. I recommend it to my friends and I will repeat my visit.

Madina Hostel is just amazing! Mustafa and his team are pure honey. It‘s as clean as in a 5 star hotel. I was so impressed. Came many times to Cairo before but this is DEFINITELY the best place to stay. P.S.: The free breakfast is insane. Much love…

Clean and cool with a great view of the pyramids. Probably the best hotel for the price we stayed at in Egypt. Friendly staff too.
