We made a last minute change to our travel plans to come to Akhaltsikhe for 1 night. 1 night us definitely not enough, 2 nights would have been better to fit in a a slow paced tour of vardzia (2-3 hours recommended, plus 2 hours total driving time). Give plenty of time to have a full tour of the fortress. The town is very cute, and cool experience

Very impressive fortress/castle of IX century, rebuilt in XII century. However, in my opinion, some parts of the reconstruction of 2012 doesn't fit well with old structures and makes to desire much more. Overall, it is worth to visit it. But, if you are in Akhaltsikhe, you are simply OBLIGUED to visit Vardzia caves (1 hour away). It will leave you astonished!!! And also Saro megaliths and ruins of 2nd millennium BC (45 min away)... And much more...

A very interesting place. Rabati was fantastic, there are many other beautiful fortresses, churches, monasteries around. The nature was beautiful. Only about 62 km from Vardzia - a must see in Georgia.

Akaltsikhe is a beautifull area in Georgia and a good place to start tours to e.g. Vardiz or Borjomi. The castle in Akaltsikhe is a huge rebuild old castle renewed with new sites inside the castle walls. An exciting mixture of old and new. Be sure to have time for all the corners with nice mosaic basins and walk up the stairs to the towers for extraordinary good view.

Beautiful surroundings and amazing view, but not from the hotel unfortunately, as most of the rooms have a view into the inner yard. The breakfast was pleasant with a variety and restaurant stuff was accommodating. And they had baby chairs! this is a very unusual detail in many restaurants and hotels in Georgia. Their Spa is not bad, but could be cleaner and maybe better if the pool could be filled up. Buy hey, it’s included in the price.KaterinaHong Kong

This place is closer to Akhaltsikhe than it seems on the Google maps. Roads are paved, we arrived at night with no trouble.
