Canico itself has not much to offer, but it is a quiet, clean neighborhood and a 12 min drive from both Funchal and the Airport, however most of the things to do was either in the heart of the island or at the northern part, so be ready to drive around. There are restaurants and multiple grocery stores in the area.

Caniço is a lovely little place to stay with plenty of shops/bars/restaurants. There are many large hotels in the area but it is possible to keep away from them and the associated mass tourism.
There is a great sea front walk from the public car park leading to a great restaurant mainly frequented by the locals and this is about 10-15 mins away from the centre.

Nice apartment, very close to the beach and good proximity to Funchal. There are some small things that were missing like shower gel :(, shampoo, soap, beach towels ... also we had some problems with the entrance door in the building but this was resolved fast with the help of neighbors. The parking in front of the building is paid and this should be noted in apartment info. all in all it was a good experince

Great location to explore Madeira island.
Great location to explore Madeira island. Main roads just couple of minutes away so it is very easy to reach any place in the island by car. Many food/drinks stores in Canico. Many restaurants and cafe's.

If you want to visit Madeira, you definitely need to rent a car. I recommend a small car like a Fiat500 or a Fiat Panda because the roads in the cities and villages can be really (I mean REALLY) narrow.
the main hotel was under renovation, something that was not mentioned by Booking.com when the reservation was made. Despite a map on the construction fence it was hard to locate the ' sister hotel' as the Sentido name was not on reception and we ended up walking with heavy bags al around trying to find front door. In the end someone walked us to reception. After check in we were recorded all the way back to a building, no elevator, up the stairs and then the room key did not work.
The apartment is very luxurious and well equipped, and the view from the balcony is wonderful. We enjoyed having a glass of wine there on the warm Madeiran summer evening. The place was spotlessly clean and the bed is very comfortable. We received a very warm welcome from the host and will definitely stay here again next visit. If you stay here, make sure to spend a night at La Teraça restaurant. It's a fifteen minute walk from the apartment and absolutely lovely.
I couldn’t ask for more. The apartment is perfect for your holiday in Madeira. It has everything you need, close to the bus stop. Private parking if you rent a car. Very good size. The view is beautiful. Definitely recommend and if I’m coming back to Madeira I will stay here again for sure.
I want to thank you the landlord for helping me renting a car, that was definitely a very good idea. Who says you don’t need a car to explore the island is wrong.
Beautiful setting in a botanical garden, excellent food, and very attentive and friendly staff. The rooms are quiet, spacious, and very clean. A terrace with two sunbeds and a table with two chairs provides everything you need to enjoy the sunshine. The hotel is situated in the quiet centre of Caniço and very well connected. It is a 20-minute bus ride on line 155 to the Funchal central bus station (teleferico). The trip cost 2.20€ p.p. in March 2022.
The appartement is clean well kept with modern inventory (could use a ventilator in the bedrooms on very warm nights though ;) ) and is situated in a nice building and centrally located in caniço. Nice view of the sea from the balcony. Public transportation to funchal is good but you have to make a study of the departure times. The island is exceptional. It's not a beach island, and you really need transport to get around to explore. All was good.
The location is great, quiet spot and only 10 minute drive to Funchal. The hosts very kind and responsive.
Spacious, comfortable, clean. Well equipped kitchen. They also give separate towels for pool. Wifi was strong.
We had a rented car and there were a lot of parking places outside, free and very easy (something to consider when in Madeira). Also bus stop directly in front of the house.
Ocean view from our bedroom was amazing.
The location and the views just beautiful. The apartment was well presented in a traditional style, comfortable bed, lovely balcony. Good kitchen facilities (no oven but we didn't cook) nice shower. Very bright and clean. Would definitely recommend. Close to nice hotels which had good bars and restaurants with amazing views. Bakery and supermarket across the road very well stocked.
This hotel has a great location - always sunny around it. Rooms are clean, staff is really welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast, vegan jogurt and milk could be found. Fresh juice and great fruit choices. 2 really great restaurants next to the hotel. Short promenade to walk by the ocean. Rooms have great view. The pool is nice too. The spa services - massage - was perfect.
I actually stayed at both Galasol and Galamor and they are both great options. Location was good- it’s only 2€ to take the bus into Funchal (on the express bus: 20 min) and I liked staying in Canico.
The staff were kind and accommodating. The room was clean. The grounds and view are beautiful.
I absolutely loved the flat. I have stayed in many places but this place was just stunning. I highly recommend it to everyone. Pedro and his wife are such nice people and always ready to help. Madeira island is just an amazing place to visit and so is this flat. Thank you for everything Pedro!
Helga is simply fantastic, and her place is the epitome of luxury. She took us grocery shopping the first full day in Madeira, and she washed our clothes twice (We were there for two weeks, which was heaven every day!). Helga is a wonderful person, and I feel blessed meeting her.
Mr. Vlad was really kind to show me the apartment and all the things I needed for my stay in Madeira. The apartment exceeded my expectations in overall. The view and the jacuzzi were the cherry on top of the cake!
Thank you for all your help!
We had a great time on Madeira. The appartment was axcactly as promised and especially the hosts were very friendly and supportive all the time (thanks again :-) We really felt like home there. Looking forward to visit again ;-)
I was not happy with my first room, however the front desk was understanding and moved me to a nicer room which was much better. I would say this hotel is in need of some major updating.
Absolutely everything. On-site parking, elevator, well-equipped flat, radiator (which you appreciate even in Madeira in DEC), roomy rooms, 2 bathrooms, good location...
Lovely villa and hosts in a beautiful area of Madeira. Clean and comfortable, lovely window seat for reading a book, outside bbq was excellent and many seating areas.
