Havelock is a delightful place. In the distant past I had only stopped whilst driving through, but as a relaxing place to stay it exceeded my expectations. The marina is lovely, people seem friendly, pub food is great, and there is some interesting history. I would definitely go again.

Gateway to the Marlborough sounds.
Gateway to the Marlborough sounds. You can take a boat cruise or get dropped off at any of the many bays in the Sounds. Views are stunning.
Havelock itself is very quaint, with a beautiful marina, gallery, wee museum, pub and grocery store. There is also a couple of winebars/restaurants. The town is small so everything is within walking distance.
We would recommend dinner at the Mussel Pot and a 'Mailboat' Cruise of the Sounds.

Such a peaceful little town that I’ve driven through a million times but barely stopped in - was nice to finally spend a night there to have a good wander around and sample several cafes/restaurants. For such a small town there is a lot of (good) choice! The small museum is worth a look too - some very interesting story snippets in there if you take the time to read them, to go with recognisable mementos of the past for people of a certain age…

Enjoyed being able to just turn up and chill, letting the citylife fade away. Enjoyed the scenery ,wildlife, food, and people. Was a good stop off point for our trip up the sounds. Had a nice dinner at The Mussel Pot Restaurant and a pleasant drink at the Slip Inn bar.

My first time in Havelock and I loved every part of it.
My first time in Havelock and I loved every part of it. The very inviting character filled small town is above the wharf and marina. The surrounding countryside and the sounds themselves are stunning. Great coffee shops and restaurants and friendly locals. Best Green lipped muscles. I ordered chilli green lipped muscles from a food truck in main street. Divine. I spent a day out on the mailboat. It was a wonderful experience which I will never forget. I highly recommend the town and the boating experience. Hope to get back again soon.

We were interested in the history of the area and were delighted with the range of cafes and good restaurants. We loved the friendliness of the people in the town. We really enjoyed the theatre experience that was happening while we were there.
Debbie and Dean were exceptional hosts. Great to chat with, very knowledgeable about the area and local attractions. The accommodation was superb, with spectacular views of Queen Charlotte Sound, spacious, quiet and very well appointed. The continental breakfast was top class with lots to choose from and freshly baked goodies. Located just a short scenic drive from Havelock on the picturesque Queen Charlotte Drive. Our stay couldn't have been better. We would definitely go back there again.
Along with the Trans Alpine train journey, Moana was the highlight of our visit. Debbie and Dean's attention to detail is superb, with beautifully curated breakfasts which change daily, to home made biscuits and exquisite toiletries. The immaculate home is set in tranquil and beautiful gardens with amazing views from every window. Just a short drive to the mussel capital of Havelock there are plenty of options to eat out. Blenheim is about a forty minute drive.
Bora Castle was outstanding. The cottage has been so thoughtfully designed, maximising your privacy and providing outstanding views from most rooms. Everything you could possibly need was provided from laundry detergent to kayaks. The bed was so comfortable, gardens were sensational and the quality of furnishings and decor made this stay wonderful. Short walk to centre of Havelock.
Absolutely everything! Debbie and Dean are the perfect hosts. Their property is in a perfect location overlooking the Marlborough Sounds. The accommodation is spotless, with every amenity you could wish for. Debbie & Dean went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Breakfast was superb; with plenty of choice and lots of homemade delights! We didn't want to leave!
Situated away from the road front surrounded with garden. Had everything needed for a stay. Very clean and comfortable. The owners went out of their way to make it easy to access very late at night due to the Interislander ferry being delayed by many hours. it’s just a shame we had so little time to enjoy all the facilities or explore Havelock more.
Rural location, but only 7km from the village of Havelock. Quiet despite being close to the main road. Excellent water pressure in shower. Owner was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well supplied with utensils. Our first night was very hot, but luckily there was a fan which we kept on all night which kept us comfortable.
Very pleasant & helpful couple operating the b&b; immaculately clean & modern facilities; plenty of room to relax on their deck or wander the garden; option for a home cooked dinner (prior notice & reasonable fee); good continental brekkie spread.
Lovely hosts; very helpful and interesting. Great accommodation - everything I needed for relaxing (and cooking if I wanted to!) Good location; easy walk to Havelock shops etc and for the Sounds.
Everything the units were clean beds were comfortable and owners were friendly
And the location was perfect in the middle of havelock but set back from the street beautiful garden setting
Location was great, both right in the middle of Havelock but up a driveway so we'll back from the road.
Kitchenette was well equipped. Loads of bedding in case you got cold. Heatpump.
Fabulous hosts who take pride and put great effort into ensuring guest comfort. Delicious breakfasts; pristine cleanliness; wonderful views and lovely garden surrounds.
